AIM:
To educate the public and the children about the value of Park City's Historic past
To develop a system for all school-related museum activities which prepare students before and evaluate the event afterwards
To coordinate an annual school unit with the new exhibit

Mines to Moguls - One hundred years of Park City's history, from its incorporation in 1884. Produced in 1984. 27 minutes.
Park City Turns to Skiing - This video takes Park City from silver mining to recreation. Produced in 1986. 25 minutes.
History in Keeping - Focuses on the successful preservation efforts in Park City. Produced in 1988. 25 minutes
Utah Silver Queen - Susanna Emery-Holmes, who made her fortune from Park City's Silver King Mine, is remembered by her niece and namesake, Susanna Hartman. Produced in 1989.
Park City Walking Tour - This video will take you on a tour of Main Street with Hal Compton as Judge James Don featuring old black and white photographs from the museum's collection.
Historic Mine Tour - Sally Elliott takes you on a tour of the silver mines located on the ski mountain at Park City Ski Area. Produced in 1990. 20 minutes.
Ellis Island: Island of Hope; Island of Tears - This film celebrates the 100th anniversary and restoration of Ellis Island in New York City, where many people who settled in Park City first entered America. Produced in 1990. 28 minutes.
Park City Museum Historic Spots - Produced for television by TV45, these five-minute clips give you a sampling of the exhibits at the Park City Museum

TEACHER PACKETS: (Note - these packets are for sale, or may be borrowed for short-term use at the Museum office.)
Architectural Unit - This package comes in two main parts; the basics of architecture and the elements of Park City's historic district. Included are 81 slides, script, and suggested activities. This is geared for the 3rd grade curriculum.
The Stagecoach Era - This package comes with slides and scripts of: the renovation of the Kimball Brothers stagecoach and traveling west with Mark Twain, a stagecoach game, and ideas for teachers. This is geared for the 4th grade.
Park City's Silver Mining Past - This packet includes an audio tape of reminiscences, a cross section of a working mine, notes from our new museum exhibit and photos of miners at work along with suggested activities. This program is geared for 4th grade.
Jr. Docent Program - This program can involve from 10-30-50 children. It reinforces speaking and research skills as they learn about a historic Main Street building and becme a guide to teach others about their building. Slides of buildings are included. This unit compliments the 3rd grade Architecture program.

Mining History Teaching Kit - In this trunk are pictures, clothes, artifacts, information catalogues, maps and activities for 4th and 7th grades pertaining to 3 ethnic families from Brigham City, Park City, and Cedar City.
Pre History/Archeology Teaching Kit - This trunk is suitable for fourth grade. It includes: trays of actual rocks, artifacts, corn cobs, food and pottery chips of the Anasazi and Freemont Indians, background material and activities for teachers, videos, books and some advanced material for the 7th grade.
Liquid Treasure Kit - This trunk was developed by Natural Resources. It includes photos, artifacts, a teacher's video, information about water resources and a historical development of water resources.
Country School Legacy - This teaching kit comes in 2 components. One with a photographic triptych about the history of education in Utah with pictures of schools, books, classes, teachers etc. The other is a trunk of artifacts; a writing book, McGuffy readers, old pens, a slate board and an activity guide to making a book.
Park City Historical Society and Museum
