Education & Public Programs
The Park City Historical Society & Museum’s educational programs offer something fun and interesting for everybody! Whether you enjoy exploring our fun exhibits on your own, or prefer to attend lectures, living history events or guided tours, our diverse programs will deepen your understanding of the history of the American West and the role Park City played. Please visit us in the heart of old town for a unique trip into the past.

School Tours
The Park City Historical Society & Museum offers free school tours for all Park City and Summit County students. Reservations are required and should be made at least three weeks in advance. Tours usually last one hour, and are geared towards the group's age and experience. We require one responsible adult for each group of five students.

Teacher Resources
Teaching materials are available for grade 2 – “local history” and grade 8 – “science,” including traveling trunks for grade 2.

The Park City Historical Society & Museum partners with local middle schools in the International Baccalaureate Program which engages students in valuable community service projects. We have plenty of interesting projects for a diverse group of students. Please contact the Curator of Education for further information.

Historic Walking Tours
Enjoy entertaining stories from Park City’s past on a one-hour guided Walking Tour of Historic Main Street. Discover the mining town’s unique buildings and historic architecture while strolling down Main Street, and find out how Park City grew from a tiny mining camp into a boom town.

  • Park City had a Chinatown?
  • Vast quantities of silver are still buried in Park City’s mines?
  • More than 1,000 miles of tunnels lie under Park City’s mountains?
  • 22 saloons thrived on Main Street in the late 1880s?
  • The population of Park City in 1900 was about the same as today?

Weather permitting, tours are held Monday through Friday at 2pm
and start at the Museum Office in the Main Street Mall, 333 Main Street, 2nd floor.
Cost $5 per person. Bring water and wear sunscreen.

Our history presentations are very popular and a great way to learn about our town’s unique history! The following presentations are available:

Brown Bag Lecture Series
The Park City Museum’s lecture series are designed to provide additional insight into permanent and temporary exhibits, as well as to explore different topics relating to Park City’s and Utah history. The lectures are all free to the public. Please refer to our Calendar of Events for more specific information.


Family Backpacks
The Museum offers special backpacks to families that will provide children with a unique experience of discovering Park City’s Past. Become a History Detective and follow the traces into the Past! Backpacks are included in general admission.


Living History Events
Nothing brings history more to life than a group of actors in costumes! Join us for our living history events “Halloween at the Glenwood” and “Meet the Ghosts of Park City’s Past.” For further information, please refer to the Museum’s Calendar of Events.


Scout Group Visits
The Park City Historical Society & Museum welcomes Scout groups to the Museum. For a $2 donation for each scout we offer a treasure hunt booklet that will guide you through the museum exhibits and along historic Main Street.
