Historic Home Tour

Ken Martz talks about his historic home.
Each June, we celebrate history with the Home Tour weekend – a weekend filled with stories and great food. On Friday evening, renowned local chefs and colorful characters from Park City’s past invite you to an evening of culinary enjoyment in an intimate historic setting for A Taste Of Park City History. Tickets are $200 per person and include tickets for the Home Tour and Reception the following day.
On Saturday, the Historic Home Tour showcases some of Park City’s most beautiful and interesting historic homes. Each year, the tour features a different section of Old Town where Park City residents open their historic homes from 10am to 3pm. Discover how today’s residents make creative use of the small miners’ cottages.
The self-guided tour is followed by a Reception and Preservation Awards Ceremony at Zoom Restaurant with gourmet food and wine. Tickets for the tour are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Tickets for the reception cost $35. Please call the Museum for more information and to make reservations 435-649-7457. Refer to the Calendar of Events for this year’s Home Tour date.

The lectures are held in the Changing Gallery and are free with a Museum membership. Non-members will be able to attend lectures by buying a membership or Museum admission for that day. For upcoming lectures, please check the Calendar of Events.
Living History Events

Lannie Scopes as Deputy Sheriff Sam Billings.
Nothing brings history more to life than a group of actors in costume sharing true stories about life and death in old Park City! “Halloween at the Glenwood” is a locals’ favorite, and each fall, historic Glenwood Cemetery ‘residents’ stand by their graves to tell stories of happiness, sorrow, life and death.
Or come to the Museum to “Meet the Ghosts of Park City’s Past.” The ghosts’ haunting appearances bring historic 1885 City Hall back to life. For upcoming performances, please refer to the Calendar of Events.
Dungeon Party

Wendy Lavitt, Syd Reed and Barbara Martz enjoy the Dungeon Party.
The annual Dungeon Party is a terrific way to catch up with what’s happening at the Park City Museum. Be one of the first to buy the annual Museum Christmas Ornament, view the exhibits, and meet the Museum staff and board members. You will have a chance to renew your membership, and we encourage you to bring your friends and neighbors to join the Museum. Park City’s renowned chefs serve delicious hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Please check the Calendar of Events for the next Dungeon Party.
Hal’s Hikes Through History

Historian Hal Compton leads hikes to mine sites.
Each summer, Research Historian Hal Compton leads member-only hikes in the mountains around Park City. Hal hikes to historic mine sites, presenting the history of the mines and comparing historical photos to the present sites. Past hikes have included the John the Revelator, Wolverine, Jupiter, California Comstock Mines, and the Silver King Mine and Mill.
Hikes begin in the morning, and members must bring their own water, lunch, and a good pair of hiking boots. These hikes are not for the faint-of-heart because of the high elevation. Space is limited, and reservations should be made early by calling the Museum office at 435-649-7457. For upcoming hikes, please refer to the Calendar of Events.
Member Ski Tours

Museum member Don Covert enjoys one of our popular ski tours.
The ski tours with Research Historian Hal Compton are one of our members’ favorite Museum activities. Hal leads three-hour tours of historic silver mine and mill sites and of early ski history. Using historical photographs, Hal brings history alive at Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort. Ski tours require an intermediate level of skiing and a ski pass. Space fills up fast, so call 435-649-7457 to reserve your spot early! For the next ski tour, please refer to our Calendar of Events.
Oral History Nights

Swap stories about Park City at an oral history night!
It is part of the Museum’s mission to preserve Park City’s history, and Oral History events are a fun way to do so. Meet longtime Park City residents who grew up in town, have seen many people come and go, and have survived it all. This is a great way to connect to other people and share your favorite Park City stories. Check our Calendar of Events for the next date.
