This house was built in 1889, confirmed by the
insulation - newspaper from that year. John Johnson purchased this home from Andrew
and Amanda Wickman and he lived here in 1900 with his widowed mother,
Isabella and sister Nelllie. Isabella had emigrated from England
in 1870 and John was born in Iowa in 1879. John worked as a millman
at a concentrator, possibly the Union Concentrator located south of
this house on Daly Ave. John married Annie and they lived here
until they sold the home to Fred Gillett in 1914. Fred was the
nephew of David Baxter at 10 Daly.
This t-cottage was built in the late 1880s, when
t-cottage floor plans were at their height of popularity in Park
City. Originally a
porch was situated on both the front and rear of the stem-wing, but
by 1900 it had been enclosed, probably with a rear lean-to shed. The
roof line of the stem-wing has been modified to accommodate the recent
second story addition.
