James and Katie Forsythe built this t-cottage. They were both originally from Scotland, had married in Salt Lake City in 1883, and purchased this lot from the Park City Townsite Corp. in 1890 for $275. James worked as a stationary engineer at the Marsac Mill. His eldest son, John, worked as a hostler, possibly with neighbor Kimball Snyder. In 1907, James and Katie sold the home to Simon and Mabel Lane for $700.

T-cottage homes were popular in Park City from the 1880s until the late 1890s. All the houses in this block (between 823 and 905) were built before 1890, explaining why this house looks so much like its neighbors. The windows on both the cross-wing and stem-wing, however, are arts and craft style, which was popular in the early 1900s, indicating the windows were replaced during that period to modernize the home. More typical windows for a t-cottage would be the double hung windows as seen next door on 927 and 935 Woodside.
