Brigham Alexander Bowman was one of Park City’s earliest merchants. Born in Salt Lake City in 1858, he was the son of Mormon pioneers. In 1879, he moved to Park City and in November married Luna Snyder, daughter of Park City’s founding father George Snyder. Brigham immediately purchased a lot from Colonel John Nelson for $50 and Luna purchased ½ of the lot next door from Edward Sheppard for $25. In 1881, they borrowed $669 from the Zions Cooperative Mercantile Institution, probably to build this home.

The couple lived here with Brigham’s much younger brother Heber and three of their children, Edith, Ray and Ernest, who were probably born in this house. In May 1885 they sold this home and a few years later moved to Ogden, where Brigham served as Deputy United States Marshal for many years.
