The Park City Museum offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities for you to help preserve, protect, and promote the rich history and heritage of Park City. The Park City Museum has an amazing volunteer base, and these volunteers provide valuable and needed service to the Museum. We couldn’t do all that we do without them!

Volunteer Opportunities

Museum Tour Docent
- Time period
- Year-round. Once a week and/or as tours scheduled
- Description
- Share your knowledge and enthusiasm for Park City’s history with visitors! Guide visitors through the Museum’s exhibits, either in informal gatherings or large group tours. Training provided.
School Tour Docent
- Time period
- Need based on tours scheduled
- Description
- Bring history to life for school aged visitors! Facilitate group tours for young learners during formal educational programming. Training provided.
Walking Tour Docent
- Time period
- Summer, Fall. 2:00 – 3:00 pm, once a week
- Description
- Lead Park City visitors on a colorful tour of Main Street. Paint a picture of the people and businesses along Main Street and provide general overview of the historic architecture. Training provided.
Gallery Guide
- Time period
- Year-round, once a week
- Description
- Spend time in the Museum galleries, answer visitor questions and help them explore our town’s rich heritage! Training provided.
Collections Assistant
- Time period
- Year-round, once a week
- Description
- Get up close and personal with our vast collection. Help organize, catalog, and research objects that tell stories from Park City’s past. Training provided.

Oral History Interviewer
Time period
- Year-round, flexible schedule
- Description
- Interview old miners and long-time residents of Park City to capture their perspectives on past events. Learn how to interview and transcribe, or edit what others have transcribed. Training provided.
Researcher
- Time period
- Year-round, flexible schedule
- Description
- Use our Research Library and the computer to investigate historic events, facts, and people. Organize them for future exhibits, home tours, lectures, and programs, or write “The Way We Were,” a weekly column in the Park Record newspaper.
General Office Help
- Time period
- Year-round, flexible schedule
- Description
- Help us keep track of our members and send out newsletters and membership mailings.
Costumed Docent
- Time period
- Special events, as needed
- Description
- Dress the part and step back in the past. Some special events and programs are best told by costumed docents, such as “Halloween at the Glenwood.” Have you ever wanted to be someone from the past? Now’s your chance! Training provided.
Museum Store Assistant
- Time period
- Year-round, once a week
- Description
- Assist visitors to the Museum Store by helping them with merchandise, running the cash register, and helping out by getting Museum visitors started in the Museum. Training provided.
